The "Creator" is a Computer?!

Is the whole Universe a gigantic computer?

A child’s wonderment holds the infinite curiosity of all things, including how the world works and how it came to be. We all had these innate little philosophers and conspiracists within us ever since we were younger. We still have it, but it may not be as apparent as before.

I do not exactly remember how old I was when I first encountered a computer. But I remember the time I saw my mother playing FarmVille on Facebook. It was a popular agriculture simulation game on Facebook. Children and adults were playing it, but we were not allowed to play with the computer back then. Those were the days when computers were only accessible for rich people, and my parents saved up for years to buy one for their work.

Seeing how the game worked and how my mother's avatar interacted with other's characters was an awing moment for a child like me. Keep in mind that I had no knowledge or whatsoever about computer science, information technology, or the simulation theory of the Universe at that time. My mother did eventually let us experience quick moments of playing the game. After that experience, my younger self constantly thought and dreamt that the Universe was a gigantic computer amidst a vast darkness.

Growing up, I learned more about these similar ideas especially with the movie, The Matrix. With the continuous advancement of Technology, who knows? Maybe the innocent pondering of my younger self will turn out to be not just a mere ponder.

A “simulation hypothesis” or “simulation theory” proposes that all aspects of reality, including the Earth and the universe, are actually artificial simulations, most likely computer simulations. Some versions rely on the development of a simulated reality, a proposed technique that would be realistic enough to convince its inhabitants that the simulation was real.
